Getting Started View all answers What do I need to start using Movielearn? First you must meet the minimum system requirements of Movielearn. See system requirements page. Second, you must have a DirectShow compatible decoder, DirectX8.0 and a DVD drive. See dvd requirement page. If you are not sure if your system is capable of running Movielearn, just simply follow the 3 simple steps, see Getting Started Page. How do I start up Movielearn once it is installed? The installation program has an entry placed in your Start menu, so you should be able to go to your Windows "Start" icon and select "Programs", look for Cleverlearn, and then choose Movielearn from the list. This should start the Movielearn application. What operating system does Movielearn support? Movielearn currently supports Windows XP and Vista. Vista may require special instructions for earlier versions of The Apprentice Episode 1 – 4. Click here for the special instructions. Where in my computer is Movielearn installed? The default location for installation is in C:\Program Files\Cleverlearn folder. However, you can choose a different location during installation if you do not want to install Movielearn in the default folder. What decoders are compatible in playing Movielearn? What are the versions that can support the Movielearn DVD? Movielearn works best with any registered version of Intervideo(WinDVD) and Cyberlink (PowerDVD). It has also been tested that Movielearn works with WinDVD8 trial versions. To find out more where to get a Decoder, please see Getting a decoder page. How do I check if my computer is installed with Decoder? To determine if an MPEG-2 video decoder (also known as DVD decoder) is installed on your Windows XP computer, click Start, click Run, type dvdupgrd /detect in the Open box, and then click OK. A dialog box appears listing the detected DVD decoders. See more in Troubleshooting Decoders page. B. General Information View all answers Do I need to register with Cleverlearn before I can use Movielearn? If so, how do I register? Registering for a Cleverlearn account is not necessary. However, Movielearn works best if you have a Cleverlearn personal account. This account allows you to access and store words from Movielearn�s Personal Learning panel into your Personal Vocabulary with Cleverlearn, and receive regular Word Reminders by email. To register, click on "Create a Personal English Learning Account" on the Movielearn application screen, then follow the next steps to create your account. If you already have a Cleverlearn account, click on "I already have an Account" to start using Movielearn. What is a decoder? A decoder is a special software program that enables your computer to play a DVD. How can I contact Technical Support? If you need technical help with the Movielearn application, send us an email at info@movielearn.com and we will gladly assist you. Where can I purchase decoders? To find out more where to get a Decoder, please see Getting a decoder page. Can you recommend a free decoder version that can run the ML DVD? Movielearn works with WinDVD8 trial version. Please go to Getting a decoder to download the free trial version. C. Troubleshooting View all answers Why can I not play a DVD? There are several reasons why you may not be able to play a DVD. The following are the most common reasons: a. A compatible DVD decoder is not installed in your computer. In order to play DVDs in Windows, you must purchase and install a DVD decoder. Most PCs already have DVD drives pre-installed. If you do not have a DVD decoder, we recommend to download a registered decoder, see Getting a decoder Please see DVD Requirements for details and trial versions. Please make sure that your DVD decoder is fully compatible with your current system configuration. This includes video card, version of Windows or DirectX, etc. Be sure to visit Getting Started for more information about system/dvd requirements if you are not completely sure of compatibility. If your decoder is not fully compatible, then an upgrade may be available to ensure its compatibility. See Troubleshooting Decoders b. A DVD drive is not installed in your computer (most DVD drives have a DVD logo printed or embossed on the lid of the drive). If you are having trouble playing a DVD with Movielearn, please try playing it using Windows Media Player (if installed), as both products use the same technology. You may also try turning off the "Enhanced DVD" functionality (under Settings in the Movielearn application). Nothing happens when I insert the Movielearn DVD into my computer. What should I do? This occurs when the auto-run function on your computer is disabled. When this happens, you will have to manually install the application. Open your DVD drive and open the installation file Setup.EXE to run it manually I already have a decoder but why does the ML DVD not play? You may want to check Getting Started and follow those 3 simple steps to see if your system is compatible with Movielearn. There might be some problems with your decoder or DirectX. For more information about decoder and DirectX, please go to Troubleshooting decoders. Why won't the ML DVD play on a decoder that is not registered or purchased? Trial decoders has limited or reduced functionalities. What must I do when it does not play on Windows Media Player? Check if your system is capable of running ML. If it is and you still you cannot play Movielearn on your Windows Media Player, please visit Microsoft website for additional information about troubleshooting DVD issues in Windows XP.
