Hong Kong, June 13, 2007 – Movielearn, the groundbreaking ESL edutainment software that teaches everyday spoken English through movies on the computer, is set to boost the business English communication landscape in Hong Kong as it features the popular TV series “The Apprentice” with New York magnate Donald Trump.

In its June 2, 2007 edition, South China Morning Post’s Education Section featured how the Movielearn interactive DVDs, as an alternative form of English language instruction, helps local Chinese speakers "negotiate the linguistic minefield of boardroom English" as well as gain insights into US management culture, presentation negotiation, and leadership skills.

In the article, Nigel Bruce, principal language instructor at the University of Hong Kong's English Centre, discussed how, by featuring characters speaking everyday English, Movielearn captures learners’ attention by linking language and context, exposing them to language patterns and styles not normally taught in traditional language classrooms.

Daniel Churchill, Assistant Professor of Hong Kong University's education faculty, also commented how learning via mobile and internet-related devices is becoming increasingly popular due to easy access, and how this type of learning could complement students’ education and help them learn more in a shorter time period.

Professor Andy Kirkpatrick, English Head of the Hong Kong Institute of Education, also believes these alternative forms of language learning could be most effective when supplemented with language lessons. He said, "If you're motivated enough, anything can help, but most of us need to have somebody to work with when learning a language.”
